Democratic Senator Bob Menendez has been convicted on all counts in his federal corruption trial after pleading not guilty to 16 charges, including bribery, fraud, acting as a foreign agent, and obstruction. The charges stemmed from allegations that Menendez accepted cash, gold bars, and a Mercedes Benz in exchange for leveraging his position to assist various foreign governments.

The verdict, reached after a nine-week trial and 13 hours of jury deliberation over three days, marks a significant legal setback for Menendez. Scheduled for sentencing on October 29th, the senator faces a potentially lengthy prison term.

In response to the verdict, several prominent Democratic figures, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Congressman Andy Kim, have called for Menendez to resign from his position.

Meanwhile, Menendez's wife, Nadine Menendez, who is also implicated in bribery charges, had her trial postponed due to ongoing breast cancer treatments.
