GameStop has made a $55.5 billion bid to acquire eBay, a move its leadership believes could help create a “legit competitor” to Amazon.
“Ebay should be worth – and will be worth – a lot more money,” Cohen told The Wall Street Journal. “I’m thinking about turning eBay into something worth hundreds of billions of dollars,” Cohen said, adding: “It could be a legit competitor to Amazon.”
GameStop, which has quietly built a roughly 5% stake in eBay over the years, said it is prepared to pay $125 per share in a deal structured as a 50-50 mix of cash and stock.
