Severe Thunderstorm Causes Flooding and Power Outages in Toronto

Toronto, Canada, faced significant challenges on Tuesday as a severe thunderstorm swept through the city, resulting in widespread flooding of major roadways and highways, notably the Don Valley Parkway. Thousands of residents were also left without power as a result of the storm.
According to Toronto Hydro, approximately 167,000 residents were without electricity as of Tuesday afternoon, highlighting the extensive impact of the storm on the city's infrastructure.
The city of Toronto reported receiving over 700 calls related to basement flooding, with officials anticipating that number to increase as assessments continue. Additionally, the Toronto District School Board confirmed that at least 20 schools were affected by the storm, experiencing disruptions such as paper shortages as of Tuesday evening.
