Amid a surge in customer-support calls during last year’s holiday season, Amazon Ring evaluated more than 40 AI voice providers before choosing startup Vapi to handle its inbound phone support. Today, Ring routes all incoming customer calls through Vapi’s platform.
The partnership helped Vapi secure a $50 million Series B funding round led by Peak XV Partners, giving the company an estimated post-investment valuation of around $500 million.
Ring reportedly considered expanding its call-center operations or leaning more heavily on traditional automated phone systems before ultimately adopting AI-powered voice agents.
Vapi CEO Jordan Dearsley said Ring was drawn to the platform because it allowed engineers to closely control how the AI agents interacted with customers in real time.
Jason Mitura, Ring’s vice president of software development, said customer satisfaction scores improved after the rollout and praised the platform’s flexibility. “A lot of AI tools promise great outcomes, Vapi has delivered on them,” he said.
Vapi develops AI voice tools that businesses can use for customer support, appointment scheduling, lead qualification, and outbound sales.
