U.S. Strike on Oil Tanker Leaves Three Indian Crew Members Dead

Three Indian sailors were killed in a U.S. airstrike on an oil tanker that American officials said was operating in violation of the blockade on Iran.

The deaths are the first reported since the blockade began on April 13. The sailors had initially been listed as missing following the strike.

Sarbananda Sonowal confirmed the deaths in a post on X, writing: "It is deeply unfortunate to learn of the tragic incident aboard the Palau-flagged MT Settebello. Sadly, three Indian seafarers initially reported missing are now confirmed dead after bodies have been located and identified."

The victims were identified by local media as Aditya Sharma, Shivanand Chaurasiya, and Patnala Suresh.
