IRS "Barred" From Auditing President Trump's Tax Returns

The U.S. Department of Justice has agreed to shield Donald Trump, his relatives, and affiliated businesses from ongoing tax-related investigations as part of a settlement tied to Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service.

According to an addendum signed by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, the federal government will be permanently prohibited from pursuing or prosecuting any unresolved tax claims involving Trump, his family members, or his companies.

Earlier this week, Trump also agreed to withdraw a $10 billion lawsuit accusing the IRS of improperly leaking his tax returns. As part of the broader agreement, the Justice Department established a new $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” intended to support individuals who claim they were unfairly targeted by prior administrations.

The fund will be overseen by a five-member commission appointed by the attorney general, with one member selected in coordination with congressional leaders.
