Tiger Woods Reaches Plea Deal In DUI Case

Tiger Woods has reached a plea agreement in his Florida DUI case, avoiding jail time but receiving a five-year suspension of his driver’s license.

Woods appeared in Martin County Circuit Court on Wednesday and pleaded no contest to a reduced reckless-driving charge and to refusing to submit to a lawful test. The original case stemmed from a March 27 rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida, when Woods’ SUV crashed after he attempted to pass another vehicle.

Authorities initially charged Woods with DUI with property damage. Investigators said he showed signs of impairment at the scene, but a breath test detected no alcohol. Woods also refused to provide a urine sample. Authorities found two hydrocodone pills in his possession, though prosecutors ultimately determined there was not enough evidence to prove he was impaired by the medication.

Under the plea agreement, Woods will pay $1,500 in fines; $1,000 for the reckless-driving charge and $500 for refusing the lawful test. He also received a separate careless-driving violation. The five-year license suspensions will run concurrently.
