Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he is appointing William Pulte, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to serve as acting director of national intelligence. Pulte will succeed former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in the role.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Pulte’s leadership at the FHFA and his oversight of mortgage finance giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Trump said Pulte has extensive experience handling highly sensitive matters, including overseeing the safety and stability of financial markets and managing institutions responsible for more than $10 trillion in assets.
Trump added that Pulte will continue serving as FHFA director and chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac while also leading the nation’s intelligence community in an acting capacity.
