The Supreme Court of the United States on Thursday allowed women to continue accessing the abortion pill Mifepristone through telehealth appointments, while legal efforts to restrict access to the drug continue in lower courts, including in Louisiana.
The conservative-majority court temporarily blocked a May 1 ruling from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit that would have required patients to obtain the medication through in-person visits.
The court did not provide an explanation for its decision and did not reveal how the justices voted.
