Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for direct talks with Vladimir Putin, urging a face-to-face meeting as part of efforts to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.
In an open letter addressed to Putin, Zelenskyy said it would be "wrong to simply wait" for the conflict to regain the full attention of the United States. He argued that lasting peace can only be achieved through direct negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow and called for a full ceasefire to remain in effect throughout any potential talks.
The appeal comes as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled. Earlier Thursday, Putin rejected the idea of a complete ceasefire during negotiations, highlighting the significant gap that still exists between the two sides on how peace talks should proceed.
